 It is true that once in our lives we will experience people judging us by the way we look, speak and even react around people. Most would point out on physical appearance and would mock if anyone was not deemed to pass the “beauty standards” of the community, that’s why a lot of women would decide to undergo plastic surgery so that the cycle of discrimination with their physical looks would finally be put on an end.

So that is what this Vietnamese woman, named Huyen, did exactly. After many tortuous days of being mocked due to her physical appearance, decided that something has to change. Right after that, what pushed her to continue getting plastic surgery is that when her boyfriend left her even though they already had two kids together. Apparently, the main reason why they separated is that the family of the man did not approve of her because of how she looked physically.

Being a single mother, she raised her children on her own with the help of her mother, the grandmother of her kids. She entrusted her children to her and would come and visit them on weekends when their mother is on a day-off.

With the little amount she saved, she decided to undergo plastic surgery to change her overall look. Apparently, she mentions that she is not very confident with how she looked like back then. She also pointed out that if you look different, or does not pass the beauty standards for them, you won’t receive privileges and good treatment from other people.

After the procedure and the surgery, she was so much happy with the results and would tell that since she had to work for the family, there was a time after her surgery that she needed to go to work. Even though it was painful, she pushed herself to earn that little extra even more.

She also mentions that she has become more confident with her physical appearance unlike before. Huyen apparently spent over 100,000,000 dongs, or 224,579 for the surgeries alone. She said she is not more confident and she no longer hears nasty comments or remarks from other people apart from compliments.
