Filipina Nurse Pinamanahan ng 60 Million US Dollars Ng Kanyang American Employer

One Pinay nurse inherits 60 million US dollars from her American employer to whom she worked for many years. The inheritance were a total of 2 billion pesos when converted in Philippine peso, and the Pinay nurse was more than grateful for the fortune she didn’t even see coming to her entire life.

Gicela Oloroso was a Pinay nurse from Sapian, Capiz, who tried her luck for employment overseas, and little did she know that the fortune she was looking for was more than just a job application abroad. Back in 1972, Gicela travelled abroad seeking for a job as a nurse when she was 22 years old. She met an Israeli man in New York and got married with him. Because her husband practice Orthodox Judaism, she changed her name to Hadassah Peri.

After her marriage, Gicela was assigned to be a private nurse of Huguette Clark, a wealthy daughter of a senator and an owner of a mining corporation. Gicela took care of Huguette after her operation and aided her recovery.

Gicela took care of Huguette that even during her day-offs, she would take the time to look after her. She would work from 8am to 8pm, 12 hours a day, seven days a week, 52 weeks a year. She would even look after the children, and make sure that they are well being sent off to school, and preparing to welcome them back home at night.

Because of Gicela’s devotion to the Clark family, Huguette decided to leave an inheritance to the Pinay nurse for her compassion and loyalty to the family. She granted her seven houses, two of which are grandiose apartments. She also left a 60-million USD inheritance under her name, and secured Gicela’s children’s education for almost two decades. In 2011, Huguette Clark passed away at the age of 102 but she made sure that her nurse, Gicela, and her aid, who both showed immense care and compassion for her and her family would not come empty-handed.

Truly that compassion to others and genuine care would grant us immense blessings which we can be forever grateful. With inheritance or not, we should start showing more compassion and care for others just as how we want others to treat us. Respect begets respect, and with that, so does acts of kindness.
