Instant Milyonaryo Ang Lalaking Ito, Matapos Mapulot Ang Batong To Sa Dalampasigan
It will always be a surprise that those things we might have encountered or have collected are already worth a fortune. Just like this man from Koh Samui, Thailand. The 44-year-old Tala Upara turned his life around from being a bartender to a millionaire overnight.
His discovery reached the headlines across the seas that a lot got curious and tried their luck just like with Tala hoping to encounter another fortune. This happened while walking on the beach when he found a large waxy lump on the shore.
Since it looked different from the usual rocks he saw, he took it home as a souvenir. The rock was left forgotten in Tala’s house, but one day when his friends visited him, he showed the rock and realization dawned on him.
His friend instantly recognized this “rock” and said that it is actually a calcified substance from whales which is called ambergris. This substance was believed to be rare and often perfume makers would always look for this to add as an ingredient to the perfume to make its fragrance last longer. Luxury brands like Chanel in France uses this substance.
Since it is very hard to collect ambergris, its price is very high. And the bigger it is the more expensive it is. And this big lump that Tala kept weighs 22 lbs. That in conversion this might cost $500,000. Tala was supported with his family and friends to let experts check the authenticity of the stone and to have an estimate of its actual price.
But when asked on what he plans to do, if ever he was able to sell it. Tala shared that he intends to retire early from being a bartender to a millionaire, because the money that he can make from the stone is really a huge amount, and it can already support him all through out his lifetime.
This is his description of the stone he found, "The lump is large and golden with a waxy texture like melting candles. But it’s soft when I poke it, not like a candle. I tried burning some of it with a lighter, it changed into oil and then it went hard again. I have never seen anything like this before. " I want to sell it and retire.”
